Design Vision
Conceptualizing and visualizing the end design is important, but getting a feeling for how the various hues, textures and materials will interact is essential. Especially when choosing your core materials. Collecting samples and creating a mood board will give you a good feel for how the elements will work together.
“You need to visually see how the textures and hues mingle when placed side by side.”
Start by pulling visual inspiration online, and clarify your vision for the end look and feel. Once you are confident with the materials get samples and lay out the final look. At this stage you can catch anything that you thought was cohesive, but just isn’t working.
Also take time to consider the practical implications of various materials. Are they easy to clean, high durable, energy efficient, etc? While some choices can be aesthetically pleasing, they need to make sense and enhance your individual lifestyle.
